I see companies that sign up with a new merchant service processor only to never hear from their processor again. When the merchant has a problem they spend hours on the phone, sometimes never able to even reach a merchant service representative. After the merchant becomes frustrated and attempts to cancel their processing agreement, the merchant learns that they must suffer a hefty, sometimes outrageous cancellation fee. The processor may have even leased them equipment for way over its value and the merchant is stuck with it for years to come.
